Can't Cry Hard Enough

Sabi ko, ready na ako to move on and let go!Pero mala, uya na naman ako! Lintek! Pasaway na playlist ko ni, sunod sunod! Inot si And I love you so, then yung Can't cry hard enough (both by Jed Madela), then yung Stay (by Carol Banawa) taz now, Only Reminds me of you (MYMP)!

Napahibi ako pag puon kan Can't cry hard enough! Uyam!

I'm gonna live my life
Like every day's the last
Without a simple goodbye
It all goes by so fast

And now that you've gone
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now

Gonna open my eyes
And see for the first time
I let go of you like
A child letting go of his kite

There it goes, up in the sky
There it goes, beyond the clouds
For no reason why
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now

Gonna look back in vain
And see you standing there
When all that remains
Is an empty chair

And now that you've gone
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now

There it goes, up in the sky
There it goes, beyond the clouds
For no reason why
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now

And now that you've gone
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now

Greetings

Happy Birthday Grace!

I miss you so much. I know I have told you this a lot of time already, but I'm doing this for you to know that I really do miss you. That I really do LOVE you.

I have said many sweet love messages and wishes already. I cannot ask for more, except that you continue to be my Guardian Angel.

But this time, everything will be different.

For the past five years, I have been mourning for your loss. I know I should have done this a long time ago, but I just regained my composure and confidence just now.

I guess, I have to move on. I have to let go.

I have to move on for me to let go. I know I'd be facing the future without you here by my side. I have to move on cause everyone has already do so. I have to move on.

I have to let go in order for me to move on. Let go of the love, the pain and the loss. I have to let everything go.

But how can I let go if letting go requires me to move on, and moving on requires me to let go?

I am confused.

Hunted

I don't want to sleep, cause I know that sleeping would mean waking up for yet another day. Another day closing to that special day.

Today's the 26th day of September. Its already 9:30 in the evening and yet, here I am, facing my laptop and listening to some mellow music, which, i hate to say this one, makes me miss you more.

"And I love you so
The people ask me how,
how I lived till now.
I tell them I don't know."

Yes, I think I really am still in-love with you. Always had been. Its so hard for me to enter into another relationship knowing that my feelings for you had NEVER subsided.

"And yes
I know how loveless life can be
The shadows follow me
and the night won't set me free"

Today, I guess, would be the start of my sleepless nights. On the 28th, that would be the start of another year without you here by my side. God knows I'm afraid. I am afraid to go to sleep. Cause I might not see you in my dreams. The shadows of you follow me, and the cold night simply won't set me free. Cold. Without you here beside me, I feel so empty. Empty as a bottle, being swept away by the ocean, waiting for someone keep me.

"And now that you're gone
I can't cry hard enough
No, I can't cry hard enough
For you to hear me now"

Here I am. Alone. About to lay on my bed, tears about to fall. Thinking of you. Missing you. Loving you.

In the emptiness I wait.

In the shadows I long secretly.

For your touch, for your caress.

Cause I know that I am in existence.

But without you here by my side, I know that my existence would mean nothing more than dust.

Why is the Philippine Peñafrancia Image Conical?

Close up of the Image enthroned during the Fluvial Mass last September 18, 2010*

Why is the Philippine Penafrancia image conical, with the head of the Divine Child sticking out from the body of the Blessed Mother?

Notice the discreet passageways behind the image of the Virgen de Pena de Francia venerated in Spain in the picture I included in my previous post.) Almost all venerated Marian images in the country, including the Penafrancia, also have a similar passageway behind their altars to allow devotees to kiss the mantle and touch the image. This tradition is called thebesa manto or kissing of the mantle. It is no coincidence that this devotional term rhymes with besa mano, or kissing of the hand, which is a sign of respect accorded to parents. One also recalls the piety and faith of the woman with hemorrhage in the Gospel, who touched the fringes of Christ's garment and obtained her cure.

As a result of this custom of the besa manto, the base of a venerated image often becomes so worn that precautionary measures have to be taken. Glass (now bullet-proof!) and grilles usually provide security and protection. A unique and curious example can be seen in Macau's Igreja de Sao Agostinho where the foot of the miraculous image of the Nazarene is enclosed in plastic boots.

Sometimes other more ingenious but very practical measures need to be taken. In some place such as in Antipolo, the veil of the Virgin is simply extended so that only this can be touched by the devotees. Ribbons of lace are also attached to the image, like in the Spanish Pena de Francia, which the devotees can touch instead of the image itself. In the present case of the Penafrancia in Naga, a second veil of more inexpensive material is attached to her precious mantle, to lessen wear and tear.

Originally, the image of our Lady now venerated in Bikol was commissioned by Don MIguel Robles de Covarubias, a secular priest of the diocese Nueva Caceres. He had a local craftsman copy it from a picture he brought with him from his native place of San Martin de Castanar where the devotion to Nuestra Senora de Pena de Francia first started. As was the custom then, a dog was slaughtered to provide blood that was mixed with brown paint to achieve the "mulato" hue of the image, made of santol wood. The dog's carcass was reportedly thrown into the Bikol River but the same dog was soom found alive and well again, a clear miracle which ignited the devotion to the Virgin among the natives.

Devotion can sometimes become superstitious. Not content with wiping the image with their handkerchiefs and touching their rosaries and other sacramentals to it, as is the custom we have inherited from the Spaniards, some of the people even began chipping off small pieces of wood from the image, all contributing to the rapid deterioration of the image.

It was therefore decided, in the interest of conserving the venerated image, to enclose it in a metal "bastidor", which functions very much like an armor plate, showing only the faces of the Mother and her Child. The image was henceforth clothed with a "manto" or mantle of cloth in place of the de tallado (carved) clothing now enclosed in the bastidor. Thus, we have the present image of our Ina.

Fluvial Procession

I got a message from a friend telling that he has something to show me. An aerial shot of the Basilica Minore during the high mass.

when I clicked on the link, this is what I saw!

Just looking at the pictures bring me into a trance. This is how the Bicolano's love their INA. OUR INA!

In our commemoration of the 300 years of our devotion and love to INA, I can say that I am very proud to be part of this occasion.

Many Faces of INA

Okay, I can't think of any post right now. And I must admit that I still have the Peñafrancia-Fiesta-Fever in my system.

So, many of you might be wondering, or even knew already, that I am a devotee of INA. It’s a public knowledge actually. But have you even tried to ask me how many images of INA have I meet?

To give you some idea, here are just a few of the Images I finally "meet" (I like to use the word meet rather than saw because being in Her presence is more personal in nature than just plain admiration):

1. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City.

2. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Peñafrancia, Naga City.

3. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of Saint John the Evangelist, Sta. Cruz, Naga City. The same image is being used during the Dawn Procession every Peñafrancia Fiesta.

4. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of Saint Bernardine de Siena, Cabusao, Camarines Sur.

5. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, Abella, Naga City

6. Pilgrim Image from the Parish of the Holy Cross, Tabuco, Naga City.

7. Pilgrim Image used during the Bicol-wide "Pagsungko" for the past three-years.

8. Pilgrim Image being enshrined and used during the Peñafrancia Festival at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Intramuros, Manila.

9. Replica used during the Manto Exhibit at SM City Naga held last May 2010. The same image is being used during the Saturday Marian Procession being held at the Minor Basilica of the Lady and during the Annual Peñafrancia Summer Festival.

10. Replica being enshrined at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Caceres during Peñafrancia Fiesta.

11. Replica used during the Annual Traslacion and Fluvial Procession. It is made of fiber glass.

12. Replica of the Lady being enshrined at the Metropolitan Cathedral, during the Tercentenary Celebration of Devotion to INA.

13. Replica of the Lady being enshrined at the Ateneo de Naga Chapel/Church.

14. Replica of the Lady being enshrined at the University of Nueva Caceres Chapel.

15. Replica of the Lady which were used in-time of the 2009 Bar Exams. The image was borrowed from the Gacer Family, a well-known maker of the replica's of the Lady from Calabanga.

16. Replica of the Lady from the Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Pili, Camarines Sur. Taken during Her visit at our office.

17. Replica of the Lady being used during the Annual Marian Procession inside the patio of the Metropolitan Cathedral, during the week long Peñafrancia Festival.

18. Replica of the Lady used during the High Mass after the Traslacion Procession during the Tercentenary Celebration. Currently, it is the one being enshrined at the Minor Basilica until the end of September.

Note: This may cause some issues to some for the commentator for both the Traslacion and Fluvial High Mass announced that the Image enthroned was the Original Image. But on my point of view and from the best of my knowledge, such Image was only a replica of the original Image. But regardless of which, replica or the original image, the intensity and warmth given to the Bicolanos, devotees and pilgrims-guest are the same.

Update (June 1, 2012)
Please check this link for an update about Image Number 18. :D

19. Replica being enshrined at the Minor Basilica during Ordinary Time.

20. My very first Actual-size replica of the Image (aside from the two replicas I own).

21. Original Image of the Lady which was safely kept at the Minor Basilica of Naga.

The Original Image before restoration.

The Original Image after restoration.

The Original Image of INA inside a life-size virina.

Note: The first and ONLY public appearance of the Original Image of Nstra. Sra. de Peñafrancia after She was stolen was during the Cananonical Anniversary of the Coronation of the Lady.

That's about it all. How about you, how many Images have you meet already?

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Oo nga naman!

Last night, I attended the Perdon Procession in honor of the Divino Rostro. Also, naka assigned kami to re-decorate the main altar of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Kaso tinamad ako, so hindi ako tumulong (that was my original plan, pero ng makita ako nina Manay Cely, hayun, pinabalik ako around 11:30 pm) and nag decide ako pumunta around 9:30.

Picture dito, picture dun, then diretso sa labas to wait for the procession.

Now, here's the funny part, while waiting for the Procession to start, here comes two "SISTERS" or should I say, mga gay looking at the altar and to their surprise, nagsabi, "AY WHERELALU SI MOTHER?!" Pakadangog ko, I was thinking solely na baka yung kasama nila ang hinahanap nila. Then, sabi naman nung isa, "HAYUN SI MOTHER DEAR! NASAMAY LAMESA SA ALTAR, MADYANA HADUK KITA!"

Whoa!

Napangirit ako and naisip ko, OO NGA NAMAN, INA IN ENGLISH IS MOTHER! :)

So yun, napangirit ako pero at the same time, naugma.

Kadakul man kita apud sa iya: MAMA, NANAY, MOTHER, MUHER or INA. It all refer to one special LADY in ou hearts. The LADY OF PEÑAFRANCIA! Our INA, Our Queen.

The Fashioners of the Future

Kinaagahan, aldaw nin Sabado, iyo an aldaw kan mga kahobenan.

Santos and Fr. Olaguer.

Pag abot duman, pahingalo muna nin dikit, iristuryahan, tururugan, karakanan.

Monday, September 6, 2010
09:59 p.m.

Akala ko, I already moved on and accepted ko na kung ano man ang nangyari kay Grace. That I already accepted her fate, that she's already gone and she's with the Almighty Lord already. Pero hindi pa pala.

Late this afternoon, while doing some paper works, a friend from the other office sent me a PM in FB. Yan na kasi ang bonding time ko sa kabilang opisina, since most of the time eh nasa office ako, alone. Hehe. So yun, kwentuhan kami until maitanong niya sa akin about the countdown thing na ginawa ko nung September 1.

Tinanong niya ako kung para saan yung countdown, so I told her na it was for my Ex's birthday. I can't think of words to explain so instead, I gave her a link (http://sugatangpuso.blogspot.com/2009/09/september-28-2009-repost.html) of a previous blog about September 28.

So yun, binasa niya and ako na din. We read it separately, siya sa office nila, ako sa office ko. While reading the blog, I can't help myself but to feel the sadness and pain of losing her. Bumalik yung mga memories namin together. Bumalik yung pag-iisip ko about her. Minsan, naisip ko pa nga pala noon na I'm willing to give ten years of my own life para sa kanya. Just to be with her. [FYI: I am crying right now while typing this blog. I want to see her, kahit sa panaginip lang.

Kuya Jess, padangat mo man baga ako. :) Ina, paki sabihan man si Kuya Jess na pagbigyan ako. :)

...

Twenty-two days na lang before her birthday. And I still don't know what to do on that day. Jastine will be in school, as for me, I might be in Manila by the last week of September, so I might have the chance to visit her there.

Hmmmm…

Message to Grace:
Hi Grace. Hmmm.. Ika daw, pirmi mo ako pinapahibi. Just the thought of you makes me cry. Grabe man kaya, up to now dai ko pa maako na mayo ka na. Okay na baga satuya ang gabus. Tanu arug kaini ang nangyari? Everything was okay satuya. We've been the best of friends, for five years, nasurvive ta gabus na trials. Pero you know what, now I realize one thing. Aram na kaya siguro ninda na madali ka na mabalik sa inda, and that having you here by my side would when the time that you'll be leaving, would cause me in so much pain. Much worse that the pain that I felt nung nalaman ko na wala ka na. Kung yun nga na may katagalan tayong hindi nagkasama, sobra akong nasaktan, how much more kung kasama kita.

Grace, I love you so much. Nothing and no one can equal my love for you. Even si mga naging GF ko and even si Lyza knows about it. So they just let me be. Basta, I just want you to know na Jastine Jea will be fine. She will be brought up by a family that you want her to see.

Grace, I miss you so much. I love you so much. Hope to see you in my dreams tonight.

B y the way, here's my song for you.

Love you Grace.

Happy... Shalalala

it's not everyday i get to say i feel fulfilled and happy at the same time. i'd say about eighty percent of the time i felt self-fulfilled, about a handful of people would claim they felt crappy 'cos either i made them look bad or i made them realize they look bad. something like that. but today, i'm proud to say i was able to help a couple of other people and made them feel genuinely happy i did.

hay. ang sarap ng feeling when people don't misconstrue your true intentions. okay, so i got to admit a good percentage of the things i've been doing are balls of douchebaggery rolled in egocentric display of smart-ass-ness. it's an unapologetic truth i've yet to find a cure for. but if you think about it, some of these things start out with real clean intentions for the betterment of everyone. wow, that sounded almost a little too noble. but that's the truth. i guess i romanticize the idea of how the whole world should work. and when things don't go that way, i get frustrated and take it upon myself to correct it. hence, people hating me.

it was fun! the people-appreciating-me-for-my-true-genuine-intentions-of-helping part.

i think all this excess capacity is giving me the chance to go walk around and see how i can help. at first (and possibly until now), it probably seemed like i was just showing off how "efficient' i am and how much idle time i have on my hands. but eventually, i hope things even out. i'll be anything but antagonistic to my team. that i'm pretty sure. or at least i'd like to think i'm sure. hahahaha!

i was borderline panicky after realizing she might get angry that i helped out and finished the whole thing. but it was such an ecstasy to see/hear how thankful she was i took load off of her. what a relief! i mean it totally could've gone south on a different day. but today, it didn't. yay me!

...

why can't just everyone be simply appreciative?
